Industrial Court To Deliver Decision On Sanus's Suit On June 13

Justice Babatunde Adejumo, the President of the Industrial Court, will on 13 June announce weather the court will hear the case filed by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi challenging his suspension from the position of the governor of the Central Bank.

On May 20 Justice Gabriel Kolawole of an Abuja Federal High Court dismissed the suit filed by Sanusi against President Goodluck Jonathan over his suspension saying the court did not have jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Kolawole held that the matter ought to have been brought before the National Industrial.

Sanusi’s counsel, Kola Awodein, filed a Notice of Appeal on May 28, challenging Kolawole's judgement on 20 grounds. Counsel to the president, Dr. Fabian Ajogwu also filed Notices of Appeal challenging the decision of the Federal High Court transferring the suit to the National Industrial Court.

Justice Adejumo urged the parties to file an appeal before the Industrial Court asking for a stay of proceedings, saying he cannot decline the order of the high court mandating him to hear the suit in line with section 47 of the 1999 constitution.

It will be recalled, that President Jonathan suspended Sanusi, whose tenure ends in June, on February 20 over allegation of 'financial recklessness and gross misconduct at the CBN'.
