President Jonathan promises to end Boko Haram insurgency by changing approach

Nigerians will soon witness the end of Boko Haram, President Goodluck Jonathan has promised during the Easter church service.

President Jonathan spoke while receiving a delegation on Easter homage at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He noted the importance of the Easter celebrations for Christian faith and drew some parallels between Christ's resurrection and Nigeria. Our country, the President said, is also being resurrected despite all the difficulties and issues like unemployment.

He promised the Boko Haram terrorist sect will not divide and disintegrate Nigeria, and pointed out the united efforts of Nigerians of all tribes and religions to help the explosion victims at Nyanya suburb of Abuja. Boko Haram have claimed responsibility for the attack which claimed at least 80 persons' lives and injured hundreds.

Most importantly, the President said Nigerian authorities are working very hard to change the approach toward Boko Haram and bring an end to insurgency. He also promised that his administration would continue trying to bring development to every part of the country.

The President also maintained that he does not control states or local government's resources but governors and LG chairmen control do. Therefore, it is essential for all tiers of government need to work collectively.

First Lady Patience Jonathan was not at the homage visit. She also was not at the church service where the President recited the 2014 memory verse of the chapel from 1st Peter 5: 6 to 7.

There was a prayer session for the first family, the congregation and Nigeria as a whole.
