Aminu Tambuwal sees nothing abnormal in the recent defection wave

The Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, said the recent inter-party defection is a normal process.

He said this at a Poverty Alleviation And Empowerment Programme in Lagos.

His statement comes against a backdrop of a recent defection of some 11 Senators and 37 members of the House of Representatives to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

The latest shift occurred on Sunday when a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, left the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.

The Speaker compared the inter-party movement to a two-way traffic because the politicians not only defect to the APC but to the PDP as well.

Tambuwal added he would make his political ambition known in due time. And for not he will keep performing his duties as the Speaker.

To recall, at the end of January Tambuwal said he had no plans to leave the PDP.
