Four Accused Of Murdeirng A 75-Year-Old Man In Makurdi

Makurdi, Benue State -- Four people have been remanded in custody by the Makurdi Magistrates' Court on Monday for allegedly murdering a 75-year-old man.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Patrick Sunday, told the court that it was the deceased's brother who reported the crime to the police.

Bunde Usom of Agber-Gbaa village, Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue, said his brother, Chior Usom, 75, was shot and killed in his house at Daudu village in Makurdi local government area.

The victims daughter allegedly witnessed the suspects Emberga Donald, Lazarus Uhende, Iornongo Uma, and James Uhende committing the crime.

In the course of the police investigation, the suspects were arrested, and Donald reportedly confessed to having committed the grave crime along with the others. However, the plea of the accused was not taken for want of jurisdiction.

The offence contravened the Penal Code of Benue, 2004.

The case was adjourned to December 4 for further investigation.
