ACF Supports National Dialogue, But Only Through National Conference

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) is ready to support any dialogue that would bring about the strengthening of the Nigeria Project.

ACF National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, stated this on Tuesday in Kaduna while commenting the announcement by President Goodluck Jonathan on the establishment of an advisory committee on National Conference.

Sani said ACF had always supported the idea of such a dialogue,

"provided [it] would not take the form of a Sovereign National Conference. "This is because a sovereign national conference amounts to vote of no confidence on our democracy and its institutions, which nobody or group has the right to do.

“So national dialogue through national conference, yes; through sovereign national conference, no.

However, Sani added that the ACF would take a final stand, once the “the form and content” of the committee was revealed to Nigerians by the federal government.
