4 Women That Might Join Buhari's Cabinet

With less than two weeks to Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration, speculation grows over ministerial appointments, and the president-elect Buhari will be soon be submitting a cabinet list for security clearance.

During his electoral campaign Buhari pledged that women will not be ignored by his government. So here is a list of four women we believe may make it into Buhari's cabinet.

1. Senator Aisha Alhassan

Aisha Alhassan was the APC gubernatorial aspirant for Taraba state and is loved by Nigerian women.

Many Nigerians thought voters in Taraba state would make history by choosing the nation's first female governor.

But Alhassan, known as "Mama Taraba" by her supporters, lost to her key contender, Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mama Taraba, with a delegation from her state, has recently visited Muhammadu Buhari.

2. Hadiza Bala Usman

After the seizure of more than 200 schoolgirls from the remote town of Chibok in April 2014, Hadiza Bala Usman, a Nigerian activist and rising star of politics, found that she could not sleep. The girls, who were grouped together to sit exams, were abducted from their dormitories in the dead of night by Boko Haram militants.

She is one of the founders of the BringBackOurGirls campaign and one of the most vocal women in the presidential campaign that produced Buhari.

3. Abike Dabiri

After 12 years in the National assembly, Abike Dabiri will not be coming back. She is currently one of the most talked about women in the APC with an eye for foreign affairs.

She is warmly called “Mother of Theresa of the tube”. Abike Dabiri prides herself on her outstanding career as a broadcaster. She spent 15 years of distinguished and meritorious service at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

She also was one of the legislators that stood against the third term bid of the ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.

4. Oby Ezekwesili

Oby Ezekwesili is a former minister of education and co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls Group.

Ezekwesili made the list of the world’s 100 most influential people alongside with the president-elect, Buhari.

If the APC can contain the chaos her nomination will cause, she will definitely make it into Buhari's cabinet.

Oby Ezekwesili is predicted to be the new minister of education and youth development.

Meanwhile, the APC has dismissed lists of Buhari’s appointments being circulated by some online media sources.
