Submerged In Water Two Buildings Collapse In A’Ibom

Two houses on Oron Road, Oron, Akwa Ibom State, collapsed following a downpour on Sunday.

It was learnt that while one of the houses was completely submerged in the water before it collapsed, only part of the second building was affected.

A youth leader in the area, Mr. Etifit Nkereuwem, told our correspondent that none of the occupants was injured as some of them had travelled to their villages while others went to church.

He said, “Two houses collapsed. But the one at number 178b Oron Road, was completely submerged in water. Only a part of the other building collapsed for now.

“From what we have gathered so far, nobody was around at the time of the incident.

“Some of the occupants went to villages while others went to churches. They only returned to see the collapsed buildings.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Etim Dickson, said the police were making enquiry about the collapsed buildings.

“The Divisional Police Officer in the area is already on the situation. As soon as they get the report, I will get back to you,” he said.
