Enugu Dep Gov Slumps Before Impeachment Panel

Embattled deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, reportedly slumped today, August 13, at about 11.35am, while testifying before the Impeachment Panel probing allegations of misconduct leveled against him by the State House of Assembly.

Onyebuchi was said to have arrived the court in the company of his lawyer and started testifying at about 9.30a.m.

However, two hours and five minutes later, he collapsed.

Vanguard reports that he was rushed out of the court hall for medical attention by his wife, Mrs. Nneka Ada Onyebuchi, his children and some of his aides who were present while the proceeding was stood down till 2pm.

According to Mr. Peter Eze, one of the defence counsels, Onyebuchi collapsed five minutes after the Chief of Staff, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo who had been summoned to appear before came into the court, accompanied by the state Attorney General, Mr. Anthony Ani, SAN.

About 3 weeks ago, reports surfaced that the governor of Enugu state, Sullivan Chime had asked his deputy, Chief Sunday Onyebuchi, to forward in his resignation letter.

Reacting later, Onyebuchi had said he was not shaken by the impeachment saga while speaking with spoke with journalists after the 7-man probe panel investigating allegations against him was adjourned.
