The groom had this to say:

"I came with my family, some came from Abuja, some from Ekpoma and right now, they are telling us the registrar travelled. Nobody informed us about it. We (my wife and I) are confused and disappointed and I don't know what to do."

The bride, dressed in her wedding gown, appeared let down as she spoke with newsmen about the unfortunate development.

The relatives of the couple also expressed disappointment as they revealed that money running into millions of naira had already been sunk into making the wedding a reality.

All efforts to reach the absentee registrar via phone call proved abortive as he/she did not respond to the numerous calls placed.
