Greenfield University: President Buhari Reacts to Students' Release

The news of the release of students of Greenfield University students in Kaduna on Saturday, May 29, came as a great relief to their parents and even President Muhammadu Buhari.

Via a series of tweets on Saturday, the presidency disclosed that the president is relieved to hear the good news.

Garba Shehu, a presidential media aide, noted that after a 40-day ordeal, it is good to know that the students safe again and reunited with their families.

The presidency also consoles with the families of those who were killed by their captors.

Going forward, the Nigerian leader said he will continue to work with state governments to ensure the protection of students and academic institutions.

14 students of Greenfield University released

Earlier, it was reported that fourteen students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, were abducted from the university hostels on Tuesday, April 20 have been released.

The students were released on Saturday afternoon, May 29 after a yet to be disclosed amount of money was paid as ransom. The spokesman of Greenfield University, Kator Yengeh, confirmed the development and promised that more details will be provided later.

The students were released at a location along the Kaduna- Abuja highway. The chairman of the Parents Forum, Markus Zarmai, and few others were expected to receive the students at the drop-off location.
