Man United icon Paul Scholes has singled out David de Gea for blame following Man United's Europa League final defeat against Villarreal.

Scholes cited De Gea's disappointing performance in the shootouts in particular, with the legendary midfielder contending the keeper should have done more.
Both Villarreal and United played out a 1-1 draw in Gdansk, Poland, after regulation time, with neither side finding a winner even after 30 minutes of extra time.
The encounter had to be decided via an epic penalty shootout which saw all outfield players convert their spot-kicks.
Soon it was the turn of goalkeepers to decide the shootout, with Villarreal shot-stopper Geronimo Rulli putting his side ahead.
However, De Gea, with United's crucial spot-kick had his comfortably saved to deny his side a golden chance to lift the European title.
And while reacting to the Spaniard's performance, Scholes noted the keeper's poor record with penalties was already a potential factor before the match.
"But the penalties, you have to say… David… we spoke about his record before it, he didn’t look like saving a penalty," Scholes said.
"They [United] got a little bit lucky with Luke Shaw’s penalty as well," he added.
Interestingly, De Gea has not saved a penalty for United since April 2016 and looked unconvincing once again during the shootout in Gdansk.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he is not going to shift any blame to his players in the wake of Man United's Europa League final defeat to Villarreal.
Man United were firm favourites to lift the European title in Gdansk, Poland, on the night of Wednesday, May 26, only for them to suffer a disappointing loss.
Spanish League giants Villarreal emerged Europa League champions after beating Man United 11-10 on penalties.
The game was settled by the spot kicks after both sides played a 1-1 draw in the regulation period with Gerard Moreno and Edinson Cavani scoring for either side.
Geronimo Rulli was the hero for Villarreal after saving his fellow goalkeeper David De Gea's spot-kick to put an end to the marathon between the two sides.
