Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new security measures for the southeast and south-south regions of the country in what seems like an attempt to check the escalating attacks on police formations in the zones.
Buhari made the decision following eleven days of security meetings at the presidential villa, Abuja which ended on Tuesday, May 11.
The acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, informed journalists about the new security measures in the regions.
In other news, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state, who is also the chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum has revealed that the region is not ready to secede from Nigeria.
Umahi disclosed this while speaking on the security situation in the southeast during a statehouse briefing in Abuja.
According to him, there is a deliberate attempt to use fake news to foment trouble in the region.
