Pro-Buhari group to PDP: You can’t force Nigerians to forget your performance

- The Coalition of Buhari Friends and Supporters (CBFS) has condemned the opposition party's criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari

- CBFS said the opposition seems to be taking Nigerians for a ride with its recent comments on the polity

- According to the coalition, the PDP has remained economical with the strides and successes recorded by the Buhari-led administration

The Coalition of Buhari Friends and Supporters (CBFS) has described the criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration by the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as unfair.

The group said the PDP is attempting to force Nigerians to forget the 16 years of below excellent performance during their time in office.

A statement signed by CBFS secretary-general, Anthony Agada, and seen Legit.ng, PDP’s claim of the nation’s collapse under Buhari is an indication that the opposition takes Nigerians on a ride.

Agada said since President Buhari assumed office in 2015, the PDP has remained economical with the truth on the state of the nation in all ramifications.

He said PDP has continued to tell the world that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration has failed in addressing the security and economic challenges facing the nation.

Commending the president for clearing some of the mess left behind by the PDP in the past five years, Agada said Nigeria has witnessed tangible gains in critical sectors of the economy with Buhari in power.

He further called on the opposition to tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians over its unfounded allegations against President Buhari.

Agada also warned the PDP to desist from its attempt at insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians still healing from the locust years brought upon the country by successive administrations.

He said the group and Nigerians were regaled with tales of how billions of naira was siphoned and the nation bleed profusely until the APC government came to the rescue through the various revelations that came to the public space.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared that access should be given to members of the PDP, willing to join the APC in the ongoing membership registration exercise of the ruling party.

Omo-Agege made the comment on Tuesday, February 2 in his country home in Orogun, Ughelli North local government area of Delta state.

According to him, the essence of the exercise is to rejuvenate the party in preparation for future elections hence the need to get more members into the APC fold.

In a related development, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has stated that the APC will soon become the largest political party in Africa.

The Kogi state governor also said developed nations will come learning the ropes of progressive politics from the party soon.

Bello made the comment when he spoke at the inauguration of the mobilisation committee for the party’s membership registration/revalidation exercise on Tuesday, January 12.
