Alleged certificate forgery: APC to challenge Obaseki’s victory at Court of Appeal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state has disclosed that it plans to continue contending the Godwin Obaseki alleged certificate forgery case.

The party said the victory of the Edo state governor at Federal High Court in Abuja does not mean the case has ended, This Day reported.

The APC disclosed that it would appeal the ruling of the court that absolved the governor of certificate forgery.

The chairman of the Edo APC caretaker committee, David Imuse, said the party’s legal team would immediately move to study the judgment.

He said:

“We will appeal the ruling of the court. The party’s legal team would immediately move to study the judgment and file an appeal.”

According to Nigerian Tribune, Imuse stated that the party is confident that the judiciary would remain upright and always ensure that the will of the people and rule of law prevail.

He appealed to all APC members in the state to be calm and to go about their normal activities peacefully.

Meanwhile, Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki has expressed delight over his victory in the certificate forgery case brought against him by the APC.

In a brief statement that he released on Saturday, January 9, the governor described the verdict as a victory for the rule of law.

He said the lawsuit was just a waste of his and Edo people's time by some desperate individuals who want to get to the government house through the backdoor.

In another news, the deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has expressed joy over the court victory of Obaseki.

Shaibu was seen showing off his dancing skills at his official residence in Benin City on Saturday, January 9, where some top state officials had converged to hear the court's final decision.
