- The Argentine wonderkid is branded ‘mini Messi’ for playing like the legend
- Sarmiento currently plays for Estudiantes where former midfielder Veron is the chairman
Manchester City have reportedly agreed a £17million deal to sign Argentine winger Dario Sarmiento who many have branded as the ‘mini Messi’.
The youngster will reportedly join the Etihad outfit when he turns 18 in March as he currently plays for Estudiantes where former midfielder Veron is the chairman.
According to South American football expert Tim Vikery, the deal is almost complete as the Citizens have been following the youngster because of his style of play.
He told talkSPORT:
"It’s a horrible thing to say about anyone, but there’s a mini Messi in him – that’s why City have been following him.
“They can’t bring him over until the next transfer window because he doesn’t turn 18 until March.
“The club president there is Juan Sebastian Veron and he’s saying it’s almost a done deal. He’s already drooling over the amount of money they can get for him.
However, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly been handed a huge boost after Lionel Messi hinted former teammate Neymar he will leave the French club this summer.
The six-time Ballon d'Or winner will be out of contract with Barcelona at the end of this campaign. He nearly walked away from the Nou Camp outfit in August after handing the former board his transfer request.
However, he made a U-turn before the start of the ongoing season after deciding to see out his contract.
Aguero is the Citizens' all-time highest goals scorer but his deal with the former Premier League champions expires this summer.
The 32-year-old could sign a pre-contract agreement with a European club now, ahead of a free transfer later this year.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has reportedly emerged as a top transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine-born tactician took over from Thomas Tuchel after his appointment with the French club earlier this year.
He got his reign at the Parc Des Princes started with a 1-1 draw with St Etienne during the mid-week as they currently trail Lyon by three points.
