Finland's Finnish Immigration Service has confirmed that certain categories of workers moving to the country for employment can receive a residence permit decision in as little as 14 days through its fast-track service, offering a significantly shorter processing timeline than standard immigration routes.
The accelerated pathway is available to individuals coming to Finland to work as specialists, start-up entrepreneurs, EU Blue Card holders, intra-corporate transferees on ICT residence permits, and those taking up roles in top or middle management at a company.
More Details on Finland Fast-track Service
For those applying as specialists, EU Blue Card holders, ICT permit holders, or company management personnel, the employer carries a responsibility under the scheme.
The employer must log into Enter Finland for Employers and upload the applicant's terms of employment no later than two working days after the application has been submitted.
It is worth noting that the fast-track service is only available to those applying for a first residence permit from outside Finland.
People already living in Finland cannot use this route, and the option is not available for permit renewals or extensions.
D Visa Option for Immediate Travel
Applicants using the fast-track service also have the option to apply for a D visa at the same time.
This visa allows successful applicants to travel to Finland as soon as a decision is reached on their residence permit, without having to wait for the physical permit card to arrive.
Family members, including spouses and children, can also benefit from the fast-track processing if they submit their own applications at the same time as the primary applicant.
The Finnish Immigration Service published a step-by-step video guide walking prospective applicants through the fast-track application process, available on its official YouTube channel.
