Boko Haram: Coalition hails Zulum’s appraisal on the return of peace under Buhari

The Coalition for Truth and Justice (CTJ) on Tuesday, December 8, applauded the governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, on his appraisal of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration on the return of peace to the northeast.

CTJ said it is commendable that the governor of Borno state has identified efforts made by President Buhari's administration towards ending insurgency in the northeast region of Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja attended by a Legit.ng reporter, CTJ's national coordinator, Timothy Charles, said Zulum's display of rare sincerity of heart and purpose is worthy of emulation.

Charles said that Zulum's remark is proof of the successes recorded by the Nigeran military's leadership and its troops in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria.

He said Zulum has shown that he is an exemplary leader sincerely ready to improve security in Borno state and the entire northeast in the past six years.

According to Charles, the position taken by the governor breathes patriotism, honesty on issues focusing on ending insurgency in the northeast.

Charles said:

“It can thus be stated that there have been considerable efforts by the Muhammadu Buhari administration in ensuring the security of lives and properties in Nigeria.”

Recall that Governor Zulum had commended the president’s involvement in ending the insurgency in the northeast.

The governor while speaking on the recent killings of 43 rice farmers in Zabarmari village of Borno state said President Buhari’s administration has done well to restore peace in the region.

He said that the security situation in Borno has improved since President Buhari assumed office in 2015.

Zulum's remarks came after series of condemnation of the President's efforts in fight Boko Haram terrorist by Nigerians especially social media users.

Many Nigerians and some non-governmental organisations had alleged that the president, the military, and other relevant agencies are nonchalant about ending terrorism in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Zulum had urged soldiers of the Nigerian army to face ongoing operations against insurgency rather than taking pride in the Edo state elections.

The governor speaking at the opening ceremony of the combined chief of army staff quarterly conference in Maiduguri, said it is important that the Nigerian army does not lose focus in the fight against insurgency in the northeast.
