Ronaldo seems to be broken over the death of Argentine legend, Diego Maradona, as he narrated how the icon insisted on giving him one of his special wristwatches.

The Brazilian legend has continued to pay tribute to the late star as he reveals details of one of their moments together.

Maradona passed away on Wednesday, November 25 following reports that he suffered a cardiovascular arrest at his home in Buenos Aires.

An investigation has been launched over the sudden passage of the 60-year-old amid controversy with his personal doctor, Leopoldo Luque, a case currently treated seriously

It was further alleged that the former player was neither taken to the hospital for checks nor given an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury after he fell and hit his head – an incident which came weeks after he had undergone brain surgery.

According to Ronaldo, Maradona left an incredible legacy in football stating that he was shocked when he learnt about the icon’s demise, adding that the legend once gave him a wristwatch.

He said, as cited in SunSport:

"Diego brought two watches and the legend went that he did not go anywhere without them both.
"I asked him why he wore two, and he said that his daughter had given them to him as a present and since then he had never taken them off.
"At the end of the meal he took one off and gave it to me as a gift.

"I didn't want to accept it, but he got angry and I was left with no choice.
"I will look after it for the rest of my life as a reminder of his generosity and friendship."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has bagged the 2020 Golden Foot Award after the Juventus striker beat arch-rival Lionel Messi as well as Robert Lewandowski to win the prize.

The award which is organised by the World Champions Club company also had the likes of Neymar, Sergio Aguero, Sergio Ramos among the nominees for the 2020 edition.

Others are Chiellini, Gerard Pique, Mohamed Salah and Arturo Vidal, but it was the Portuguese legend that took home the award named 'Vecchia Signora'.
