Air Force Council approves promotion of 107 senior officers

- Some officers in the Nigerian Air Force have been promoted to the next ranks

- A total of 107 officers have now moved on the next level in their respective careers

- The current NAF spokesman, Ibikunle Daramola, was on the list which was approved and released by the Nigerian Air Force Council

The Air Force Council (AFC) on Thursday, November 26, approved the promotion of a total of 107 senior officers to the next higher ranks in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The affected senior officers comprise 16 Air Commodores (Air Cdres) who were promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM), 31 Group Captains (Gp Capts) who were promoted to the rank of Air Cdre, 27 Wing Commanders (Wg Cdrs) promoted to the rank of Gp Capt and 33 Squadron Leaders (Sqn Ldrs) promoted to the rank of Wg Cdr.

The promotion was announced in a press statement signed by Wing Commander Bassey Okon on behalf of the NAF and seen by Legit.ng on Friday, November 27.

Among them is the current spokesman of the NAF, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who has been promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal.

A former spokesman of the NAF, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, was also one of those moved to a new rank. He is now an Air Commodore.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, also sent a congratulatory message to the newly promoted senior officers and urged them to see the elevation as motivation to re-dedicate themselves towards more effective and efficient service delivery.

The newly-promoted senior officers will be decorated with their new ranks at a later date.

The news comes weeks after the NAF through the Nigerian Air Force Investments Limited (NAFIL) on Wednesday, October 28, commissioned a games arcade and waterpark in Abuja.

Legit.ng gathered that sequel to the board of directors’ approval to establish the event centre in Abuja, NAFIL bought a plot of land designated as green area for parks and recreation, measuring a total of 1.47 hectares in Wuse Zone 5 Abuja to be used for the games arcade and water park.

Speaking at the event, the managing director of NAFIL, Air Commodore CU Nwagwu, stated that the facility is one of NAFIL’s efforts at diversification of its portfolios and enhancing its turnover while contributing its quota at meeting the welfare needs of NAF personnel and that of the general public.

He noted that the company has gradually grown to become a leading investment outfit that manages contributions of NAF personnel.

Meanwhile, the NAF has vowed that it would not relax the current onslaught against bandits until the criminals stopped killing innocent civilians.
