Police trace more #EndSARS looters through video recordings, parade 789 suspects

In efforts to bring criminals who perpetuated the unprecedented looting of different facilities during the EndSARS protest to justice, the Lagos state police command has arrested some suspects.

The suspects are alleged to have looted public and private properties during the violence unleashed during the protest.

Recall that hoodlums reportedly hijacked the EndSARS protests in Lagos state to loot and destroy properties.

According to the commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu, while parading 789 suspects, they were arrested after the analysis of videos from the scene of lootings, The Guardian reports.

He said some looted items during the violence were recovered including a generator belonging to the Area Command in Ajah, as well as electronics stolen from shops.

In another development, Oyo police command on Wednesday, October 28, stated that it has arrested nine suspected thugs and arsonists over their alleged role in the wanton destruction and looting of properties in Iseyin.

In a statement by the command's public relation officer, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, the state police commissioner, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, noted that the EndSARS protest was hijacked, thus the violence and vandalism that trailed the demonstration.

He gave the names of the suspects as Sikiru Aliyu (25), Fasasi Fatai Lemon (24), Isiaka Olaniyi (32), Raheem Toheeb (28) and Adeleke Akeem (42), Taoreed Hamzat (26), Tajudeen Ibrahim (40), Moshood Fatai Elewure (39), Musibau Abubakar Stainless (21).

Speaking in Iseyin during a public briefing with residents of the community, the traditional council and necessary stakeholders, CP Enwonwu disclosed that six police officers were "gruesomely murdered" during the violence-ridden protest.

Also, the Ondo State Security Network Agency otherwise known as Amotekun Corps arrested some hoodlums who looted both government and private properties to the Nigeria police.

The hoodlums had taken the advantage of the #EndSARS protest to unleash mayhem on the southwest state.

The state security agency said the suspects involved in the burning of police stations and looting of shops were arrested from different parts of Ondo state
