Mario Balotelli has confirmed his engagement to reality TV star Alessia Messina.

Balotelli has endured a turbulent spell in football in recent weeks, but his life off the pitch appears to be flourishing.

SunSport reports the Italian football star has only been seeing Messina for the last one month prior to their engagement.

Speaking to an Italian magazine Chi where photos of the couple at a Sicilian restaurant were published earlier in the week, Balotelli all but confirmed their relationship has moved to the next stage.

"I am engaged, and I am in love," the magazine quoted Balotelli saying.

It is believed the star forward has already met Messina's parents at their Sicily home.

Reality TV star has a massive audience on social media all thanks to her illustrious acting career.

The 27-year-old has previously featured at Italy's Big Brother, Temptation Island and a number of reality shows.

Development between the pair comes at a time Balotelli is yet to find a new club days into the new season.

The ex-Man City star is currently a free agent after he left already relegated Brescia this summer.

It is thought the 30-year-old has since been offered to Genoa who currently ply their trade in the Serie A.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Mario Balotelli could be on his way to Romania to join league champions CRF Cluj.

The former AC Milan and Inter Milan striker has left already relegated Serie A side Brescia after clashing with the club's top-ranked staff.

And the Italy international has been linked with a move to join Brazilian side Flamengo or Serie C side Como.

But the controversial Italian forward could be tempted to join CFR Cluj who have qualified for next season's Champions League after winning the league in Romania.

The team is being managed by Chelsea legend Dan Petrescu and it is understood that the club have had talks with the 29-year-old.

According to what club owner Nelutu Varga told local media in Romania, he has two major transfer targets in Slavia Prague winger Nicolae Stanciu and a top Italian striker.
