Kanye West has claimed that "God" inspired him to infamously interrupt Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009.

The now-historic incident saw the rapper run on stage while the songstress was accepting an award for Best Female Video to declare that he believed Beyoncé deserved the trophy instead.

Speaking in a podcast interview with Nick Cannon, the 43-year-old claimed his shocking actions against 30-year-old Taylor were because a "higher power" gave him the information. Watch the interview below:

The Jesus Walks hitmaker said:

"Right now, God is giving me the information … If God ain't want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn't have sat me in the front row. I would've been sitting in the back.
"It wouldn't have made it so ridiculous of an idea because I had never heard of this person before, and Single Ladies is, like, one of the greatest videos of all time. And I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn't want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up."

The rapper said that even though God was sending him this information, he only started reading the Bible after he was hospitalised in 2016 for temporary psychosis.

According to him, he entered the presidential race to win it. The father, who used to be a great supporter of Trump, publicly announced that he would be running for the presidency in 2020:

"Like anything I've ever done in my life, I'm doing [this] to win," he told Forbes.
