Nigeria's COVID-19 cases reach 43,537 as NCDC confirms 386
- The latest figures from the NCDC show that no fewer than 386 people have newly contracted the deadly coronavirus disease
- The new figures bring the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 43,537
- FCT has the highest with 130 cases while Lagos followed with 65

Nigeria's Covid-19 reached 43,537 cases after 386 new cases were reported on Saturday, August 1.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which announced the new infections in a tweet, the FCT is on top of the list of the cases with 130.
Lagos dropped to second on the table with 65 cases while Ondo, Osun and Plateau states completed the top five with 37, 29 and 23 cases respectively.
The bottom five included Abia with 6 cases, Ogun and Katsina each had 3, while Adamawa and Imo had 1 each.

Sadly, four persons were reported dead to bring the casualty figure from the virus to 883 from the previous day's which was 879.
On the bright side, NCDC also reported that 522 people recovered from the disease across the nation and have been discharged.
The number of discharged persons now stands at 20,087.
Meanwhile, a poll carried out by Legit.ng earlier showed that most Nigerians want schools to resume as soon as possible despite the increase in coronavirus cases.
The poll was carried out on leading social media platforms - Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday, July 28.
Nigerians were asked if schools should be allowed to resume especially with the federal government recently approving some secondary school classes to resume.

On Legit.ng Facebook page which has over 4 million followers, 77% of 3,500 respondents voted for a yes, while 23% of the respondents voted for a no.
On Legit.ng Twitter page with over 700,000 followers, 70.8% of the respondents voted for a yes, while 22% respondents voted for a no.
Meanwhile, Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of the NCDC, said there is a likelihood that a COVID-19 vaccine may be available within the next six to 12 months.
The NCDC boss made the disclosure on Thursday, July 30, during the virtual weekly briefing of the African Centre for Disease Control.
