There are a number of talented Nigerians making a mark all over the world. It usually comes with great joy when their hard work and effort is recognized on even bigger platforms.

Just recently, Nigerian-American actress and comedian, Yvonne Orji, earned her first Emmy nomination to the joy of fans. The film star took to her social media page to share the good news.

Orji was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role on popular HBO comedy series, Insecure.

In an Instagram post, Orji celebrated all other nominees, Insecure writers as well as the show creator and fellow actress, Issa Rae.

She wrote: “CONGRATS to ALL the nominees. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to the @insecurehbo fam, the @insecurewriters, @the_a_prentice for our first Emmy nomination, and to our fearless leader @issarae for the OUTSTANDING LEADING ACTRESS that she is!!”

In another post, the excited Orji shared a video of herself on a call with her parents who are in Nigeria as she shared the good news of her nomination with them.

Like regular African parents, her folks did not fail to pray for her and wish her all the best. They also lamented that they would not be able to attend the award ceremony.

Orji wrote in her caption: “Meeeeeeaaann. My heart is so full. Had to call the parentals... and they DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. They had jokes, prophesies and praises.”
