Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Joy Nunieh, a former managing director at NDDC, alleged that she was pressured to spend the sum of N10 billion as Christmas palliatives in 2019 but she refused.

The former managing director made the allegation on Friday, July 17, when she appeared before the House of Representatives committee investigating the affairs of the NDDC.

She told the committee that if she had given in to the pressure, each of the state under the operations of the commission would have collected a minimum of N1 billion.

Nunieh, however, pointed out that her refusal to play along resulted in her being sacked from the NDDC.

The former managing director also described the forensic audit in the NDDC as false. She alleged that no such audit has started in the commission despite alleged huge payments made for the purpose.

Legit.ng had also reported that the PDP has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately suspend the minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio, from office.

The PDP made the call on Friday, July 17, in a statement through its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The party pointed out that the corruption saga rocking the commission was enough grounds to suspend Akpabio from office.

The PDP stated that the reported corruption at the NDDC has brought huge embarrassment to the Buhari administration.

It said though the president had ordered a speedy investigation of the activities of the NDDC, such a probe can only be successful if Akpabio is suspended.
