Governor Lalong and household test negative to coronavirus for 2nd time

Plateau state has got something to smile at as Governor Simon Lalong and his family members including his close aides tested negative to Covid-19 for the second-time record.

Legit.ng recalls that the state was in anxiety as Noel Donjur, the chief of staff to the Plateau state governor, tested positive for Covid-19.

Amid mounting scare, Governor Lalong gave directives to all members of the executive council to undergo a Covid-19 test after the state commissioner of commerce, Abe Aku, also tested positive.

Governor Lalong, after doing Covid-19 test, has now been certified clear of the virus in what brought a sigh of relief.

Making this pleasant disclosure in a statement on Sunday, July 5, Makut Macham, the governor's director of press and public affairs, said Governor Lalong and his household took another test and came out negative.

The governor had in April done Covid-19 test alongside his family which came out negative.

“I have continued to encourage people to subject themselves to COVID-19 test which is very important for us to determine the magnitude of the disease and level of the spread, in order to curb the further spread and treat people before they get to critical stages," Governor Lalong said after scaling through the scare.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that about the anxiety in Abia state over Okezie Ikpeazu's health with the governor still reportedly positive for the Covid-19 infection weeks after contracting the virus.

Ikpeazu tested positive for the deadly infection as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported 67 new cases of Covid-19 in Abia state on Sunday, June 7.

The governor's chief press secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said Ikpeazu was in high spirits and being monitored by the health workers of the state after he went into self-isolation.
