Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala has been named in the Spanish Primera Iberdola team of the season having ended the competition with a remarkable 20 goals.
The 25-year-old was instrumental as her goals helped the Barcelona Ladies clinch the 2019/2020 title for the first time in five years.
Oshoala won her maiden Spanish Primera Iberdrola title with Barcelona Femeni as the country's football body crowned the Catalan club champions following their inability to conclude the season due to deadly coronavirus.
A statement released by the Royal Spanish Football Federation revealed that the body made attempts to wrap up the season but their failure to meet government's on health guidelines compounded their problems.
The 25-year-old who failed to win league titles during her reign with Liverpool and Arsenal ladies has now achieved her dream.
Though she gave her best after arriving on loan initially from Dalian Quanjian to help the team win the league, they ended up behind the winners despite managing 11 goals in all competitions.
However, after signing a permanent deal with the club, the former Rivers Angels star scored 20 goals in 19 appearances for Barcelona before the league was eventually canceled.
Oshoala also won the Copa Catalunya and Super Women’s Cup with Barcelona Ladies during the season.
Her Barcelona team-mates; Sandra Panos, Mapi Leon, Marian Torrejon, Patri Guijarro were also included in the team of the season. Other two are, Jenni Hermoso and Graham Hansen.
