5 Nigerian celebrities mentioned in alleged sexual abuse allegations

Currently trending on the Nigerian social media platforms are rape and physical abuse allegations. Many, people both men and women, are confronting their abusers and demanding justice.

And while this is going on, it appears Nigerian celebrities are not left out as different people have alleged that they were abused by some celebrities and these stories have left many Nigerians in disbelief.

While some believe this is just another smear campaign to ruin the reputations of these famous people, others simply think these are the works of disgruntled ex-lovers who are out to get their own pound of flesh.

While some of them have responded to the allegations either directly or indirectly, there are some who have not given these allegations an ounce of attention, which for many people is a sign that the allegations are either complete lies or the celebrities involved, consider themselves invincible.

Below are 5 Nigerian celebrities who have been dragged into one or more rape scandals:

1. Peruzzi

The popular singer and songwriter was recently enmeshed in a rape scandal after a young lady identified as Princess (@Jayamah22) on Twitter, took to the platform to call out the popular singer, as she accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2012.

The singer reacted to the claims, stating that he is no rapist. He also apologized for insensitive tweets he had put out in the past.

The female artist claimed the singer tried to have his way with her and also refused to render songwriting services he was paid for.

2. Victor Ebiye

This is one Nigerian celebrity who often gets dragged on social media and this time, it is for both physical violence and sexual abuse.

Just recently, a Nigerian lady identified on Twitter as @hannahh_O left social media users stunned and others in outrage after she came out to accuse the comedian of physical violence and sexual abuse.

Hannah in a series of tweets recounted how she dated the comedian from some part of 2018 up until 2019 and in that period, stayed in his house. And throughout that period, she claims he abused her but physically and sexually.

He is yet to respond to the allegation. He, however, sent her an email pleading with her to stop sharing personal information about him to the public.

3. Uti Nwachukwu

Nigerian media personality and actor, Uti Nwachuchukwu was recently involved in a rape scandal after a lady identified as Kambili Korie on Twitter, penned a lengthy narration that detailed her experience with Nwachukwu.

Korie in her post claimed that the incident happened way back in 2017. She claimed they became casual friends after meeting at a men’s clothing store where she worked as an apprentice. The lady narrated how she had never imagined Nwachuwkwu was capable of abuse.

Kambili also shared a screenshot of their chat. Twitter users dug up an old tweet which had his name on it, as well.

Uti who didn't address the allegation directly, took to his Instagram account to educate people about apps used to generate 'fake tweets'.

4. D'Banj

The talented e entertainer and married father of one also became the latest Nigerian celebrity accused of rape.

A Nigerian lady identified as Aunty Seyitan on the microblogging platform, Twitter, has come out to give a detailed narration of her alleged sexual abuse encounter with the popular singer.

The singer has remained mum about the allegations as he has neither come out to deny nor address the issue.

5. Brymo

Brymo trended on Twitter after a user on the social media app accused him of molestation. The lady identified as Biliquis appeared to have spoken up on behalf of the victim who was allegedly abused by the musician.

Biliquis shared a screenshot of a lengthy narration which was penned down by the accuser. In the narration, the lady started out by categorically stating that she was molested by the Heya crooner.

The singer did not react to the accusations until later as Twitter users kept dragging him about the issue.

In a recent tweet, the singer wrote: "Is Rapist a new word for anyone doing something of note these days??"
