Wayne Rooney says Messi and Ronaldo are arguably football's best 2 players
- Wayne Rooney puts Lionel Messi in a different class and just a step above Cristiano Ronaldo
- According to Rooney, Ronaldo is a killer but Messi will torture you before he kills
- The pair have won 11 Ballons d’Or between themselves with Messi having the upper hand of winning six
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has chosen Lionel Messi as the best player in the world ahead of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite playing alongside Ronaldo at Man United, Rooney believes Messi makes football look so easy, Mirror reports.
There have been several debates on who the better player is between Messi and Ronaldo as the duo have won 11 Ballon d’Ors between themselves.
However, Rooney’s statement might not go down well with fans of his former club Manchester United as Ronaldo at some point in his career wore the jersey of the club.

Rooney told the Sunday Times: "Ronaldo wasn’t as focused on goals when we started playing together but you could see that all he wanted was to be the best player in the world.
"He practised and practised and began to produce. Cristiano has become an incredible scorer and he and Messi are arguably the best two players the game has seen.
"But despite my friendship with Cristiano, I’d go for Messi. It’s for the same reason I loved watching Xavi and Scholes: it’s the different things in Messi’s game. I’ve talked about composure and I can’t remember seeing Messi score when he has hit the ball as hard as he could. He just rolls them in, makes it so easy.
"Ronaldo is ruthless in the box, a killer. But Messi will torture you before he kills you. With Messi you just get the impression he is having more fun. Those two have completely changed the game in terms of goalscoring numbers and I don’t think they’ll ever be matched."
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is not at the level of Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, according to Man United legend David Beckham.
Despite passing on the No.7 shirt at Man United to Ronaldo, Beckham believes Messi is the only player of his class but the Englishman admitted that Ronaldo comes next after the Argentine.
However, Beckham’s statement seems likely not to go down well with fans of his former clubs Manchester United and Real Madrid as Ronaldo at some point in his career wore the jerseys of both clubs.
