"Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive," Hanks wrote.

Medical officers advised the two to observe a due protocol that involved being isolated from the public and Hanks promised to keep the fans in touch for any developments.

"The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated," he added.

The two are the first serious cases to involve renowned Hollywood stars and many have wished them a full recovery including fellow celebrities.

Meanwhile, UK scientists are offering N1.6 million for 24 individuals to be injected with the virus for experimental purposes.

According to Daily Mail, the volunteers would be injected with two weaker strains, 0C43 and 229E, of the virus that will give them similar symptoms.

A vaccine developed by a company named Hvivo would then be tested on the patients to observe the outcome.

The patients are then quarantined for the two weeks, 14 days, period which is a stipulation for those said to be infected or experience similar symptoms.
