The dethroned Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II has been arrested by security operatives and whisked out of Kano state amidst tight security on Monday, March 9.
According to The Nation, Sanusi has been exiled to Nasarawa state where he is expected to spend the rest of his life in asylum.
It was gathered that the former Central Bank Governor (CBN) was escorted by security personnel after he was placed under house arrest by a team of officers including DSS, police, and military.
Sanusi's arrest is coming after the security operatives stormed the Emir palace in Kano state. A source within the Government House alleged that Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, is set to announce the new Emir of Kano.

Ganduje, who has the constitutional powers to appoint a new monarch has already been given names of some powerful aristocrats with a direct lineage to the throne.
Legit.ng previously reported that the Kano state government on Monday, March 9, finally dethroned Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano, who has been under much heat throughout the Emirate crisis rocking the state.
Sanusi's dethronement came after the state's council executive meeting presided over by the governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Confirming the development, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, Kano's secretary to the state government, said that the monarch's sack takes effect from Monday.

In a related development, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has berated the Kano state government over the dethronement of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.
On his official Twitter page, Sani said that the sack of Sanusi is a clear case of the intoxication of power on the part of the state government.
The former senator said that the decision of the state is a complete diversion from established norms and goes to show "the incompatibility of the crown and the conscience."
