Bishop Oyedepo says fasting alone cannot bring anyone prosperity

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and general overseer of the Living Faith Church, better known as Winners Chapel, has a piece of advice for Christians: Never thing fasting alone can bring prosperity.

The bishop, who spoke in a message posted on the official Twitter handle of the church, David Oyedepo Ministry, added that apart from fasting, a person must go deeper by searching the scriptures.

"You cannot fast your way into your prosperity, you feed into it through the word of God," Oyedepo declared.

Legit.ng reports that Oyedepo's position comes two months after he condemned the content of the controversial hate speech bill that was before the National Assembly.

Speaking at the 2019 edition of Shiloh, a programme organised by the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Oyedepo, has described the bill that was being considered the National Assembly as a stone-age mentality.

The bishop, while speaking at an encounter night of Shiloh 2019 on Friday, December 6, said the lobbying and sponsorship of the bill popularly referred to as the hate speech bill is unbelievable.

The bishop also made the declaration just days after a popular Nigerian clergyman and general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, advised bachelors on what to look out for in picking a woman as their wives.

In a post shared on the man of God’s Instagram page, he said: “My sons, don’t marry a lady who cannot cook. She needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.”

Expectedly, the highly respected spiritual leader who clocked the age of 78 was also celebrated by members of his church as well as other notable individuals that hold him in high regard.
