Buhari makes fresh promise to Nigerians, says no govt financial transactions will be done secretly

President Muhammadu Buhari has made a new pledge to Nigerians on his administration's fight against corruption and corrupt activities in the country.
Channels TV reports that the president, who spoke on Tuesday, February 18, at the passing out parade of detective inspector course five of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), noted the various reform agenda implemented by his administration.
Legit.ng gathered that he gave an assurance that all government financial transactions would be done in the open, not in secret.
“My resolve is to ensure that the reforms are deepened such that there will be no hiding place for corrupt persons and proceeds of corruption. My aim is to ensure that no government financial transaction is done in secret and all are subjected to public scrutiny," he said.

President Buhari was delighted that his administration had reached the advanced stage in fiscal transparency.
He noted that the appropriation bill was uploaded online within hours of its presentation in the National Assembly.
The president also revealed that the Budget Office of the federation has been engaging interest groups in the budget cycle.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the presidency clarified that President Buhari never promised to make his assets declaration public.
It was reported that this was revealed by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, at a book launch in Abuja on Tuesday, February 11.
Adesina was responding to the position of Bishop Matthew Kukah who was the guest speaker at the event.
Also, EFCC appealed to the government of the United Kingdom (UK) to extradite the former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to account for alleged missing of $2.5 billion in her ministry during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
In another report, EFCC reacted to a tweet from a Twitter user identified as @TheRealDayne which showed an alleged picture of a holding center belonging to the agency.
The Twitter user in a now-deleted tweet had shared a photo of an open dumping facility, surrounded by razor-wired walls, which is alleged to be EFCC’s holding cell at its Port Harcourt zonal office.
