Kidnappers release children of Kaduna doctor after killing mother

- A report has it that Philip Ataga's children have been released by their abductors

- The children and their mother were kidnapped on January 25, from their residence in Kaduna

- Ataga, wife of a medical doctor was later killed by her abductors, who went away with her kids

Two weeks after their abduction by unknown gunmen, the children of a Kaduna-based medical doctor, Philip Ataga, have been released by their abductors.

Channels TV reports that the two children were released at about 7pm on the evening of Thursday, February 6.

Legit.ng gathered that the two children who were identified as Christabel and Jasmine were abducted alongside their mother from their residence at Juji area of Chikun local government area of Kaduna state on January 25.

It was reported that the kidnappers had earlier demanded N150 million ransom for their release but killed their mother after the family failed to pay the money.

The spokesman of Kaduna state police command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, told Channels Television that the woman’s bullet-ridden body was found inside a bush in the Kakau area along the Abuja- Kaduna highway.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that fresh tragedy in Kaduna state led to the death of at least three people following an attack by gunmen on Zangon Attakar chiefdom in Kaduna state.

It was reported that the attack happened on Wednesday, February 5, in Kaura local government area of the state.

The report said that a source from the Fulani community in the area said he lost two of his kinsmen, adding that the attack also claimed the life of one unnamed trader.

Also, one of the four seminarians kidnapped from a Catholic seminary on Wednesday, January 8 was killed by his abductors.

The seminarians were abducted from their hostels at Good Shepard Catholic seminary at Kakau village along the Kaduna-Abuja highway by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
