Boko Haram: Nigerian Army rewards 37 gallant troops with promotions (full list)

- The Nigerian Army is rewarding 37 officers and soldiers for their impressive efforts in the fight against terrorism

- The officers listed for the reward will be given commendation letters while the soldiers will be given special promotions to their next higher ranks

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has identified 37 officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army tackling the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast for a special reward.

The 37 officers, according to PR Nigeria, were selected for special recognition after the assessment of the operations of troops fighting the Boko Haram insurgents.

According to Aminu Iliyasu, the Nigerian Army Operations media coordinator, the officers listed for the reward will be given Special Letters of Commendation.

Legit.ng learns that the soldiers will be given special promotions to their next higher ranks.

Meanwhile, a former military administrator of Lagos state, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (retired) has said that retired military officers in the country are solidly behind troops fighting insurgency battle in the northeast notwithstanding the complaints and in some cases, distractions against the nations’ gallant military.

Speaking as a guest of the 2019 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the Army Headquarters Garrison which held at Mogadishu Cantonment at the weekend, General Marwa whose community, Michika, in Adamawa state has witnessed Boko Haram attacks, noted that troops were fighting under difficult conditions like bad weather, marshy terrain, and mines laden stretches of land.
