The richest women in Africa, Isabel Dos Santos, has been accused of embezzlement of funds which she allegedly committed while serving as chairperson of Angola's oil company.

BBC reports that Isabel was charged for the alleged fraud alongside others some of whom are currently out of the central African country.

Legit.ng gathers that the prosecutors have vowed to issue a warrant of arrest for all the suspects if they fail to present themselves.

It was gathered the Isabel who is the daughter of former president Jose Eduardo dos Santos was exposed by her successor who uncovered her alleged fraud.

Isabel was accused of diverting money from the coffers of the country's oil company to build her $2.1 bn (N795,300,000,000) fortune.

She has, however, denied the allegations levelled against her just as she accused the Angolan government of witchhunt.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Isabel and one of the wealthiest women in the world hinted at contesting for the country’s presidency.

Speaking with the BBC, Isabel on four different occasions refused to rule out the possibility that she could be running for the nation’s highest political post.

Also, prosecutors are trying to recover $1bn (N361,500,000,000) Isabel and her associates are said to be owing the country.

Isabel, who is 46 years old, was estimated by Forbes magazine to be $2.2bn (N795,300,000,000), which makes her the richest woman in Africa.

In a related development, the acting chairman of Nigeria's anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has accused the United Kingdom of refusing to extradite a former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke to Nigeria.
