If north insists on presidency, there ‘ll be chaos - South south elders

- The South South Elders Forum has called for the zoning of 2023 presidency to the region

- The leadership of the forum said allowing the 2023 presidency to go to the north would cause chaos in Nigeria

- The forum also said it will be logical and fair to allow the zone to produce the president for another four years so as to complete its second tenure

Elders from the south south region of Nigeria has said that there is no reason why the north should retain presidency in 2023.

The south south elders said there will be chaos should the northerners decide t hold on to power in the next election in the year 2023.

Vanguard reports that the national coordinator of the South South Elders Forum, His Highness Anabs Igbe, while speaking over the weekend said it will be logical and fair to allow the zone to produce the president for another four years so as to complete its second tenure.

Stating that the south south region was better placed in the South to clinch the Presidency in 2023 Anabs said the north may not be comfortable to support a south east candidacy for president.

He cited supposed bitterness by the people of the south east over the massive killings during the civil war. Anabs said the Ndigbo were also being marginalised.

He said north will not support the south west because having analysed the remarks by the leadership of the Miyetti Allah on the recent security outfit launch in the region.

He further described the south south can now serve as a stabilizing force in the country and would make the south east feel at home.

President Buhari while expressing gratitude to all Nigerians who voted him into office both in 2015 and in 2019 said he is going to do everything possible to make the 2023 election free and credible.

The president further describing himself as a beneficiary of free and credible elections said he is morally bound to handover power to his successor in 2023 quietly.
