Author Adora Ikwuemesi says admin officer and customer service jobs are not professions
Nigerian author Adora Ikwuemesi has shared thoughts on the types of jobs she believes are professions. The author shared a post on her Facebook page advising Nigerians on how to move on from stepping stones jobs.
The author explained that she shared her opinion to advise people who started 2020 with mistakes by continuing a job or start a job that is not right for them.
According to her, jobs like admin officer, customer service, call centre operator, and tellers are not professions. She said those jobs are stepping stones and entry-level paths that someone should not be there for more than two years.
Ikwuemesi added that those kinds of jobs can only be considered professions if someone takes a path to be distinguished such as being a certified customer service professional to an excellent certified project manager.

The author said anyone in this field is not on a professional path and should start an exit plan now and find a way to pursue becoming a professional.
According to her, every adult should be a professional and it does not matter what field they decide to work. She advised people to do their jobs so well that people will marvel at the depth of knowledge and skill acquired.
