Secondus, Delta state name Wike as pillar of PDP’s successes

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has identified Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state as the 'pillar' behind the successes of the party.
Secondus said Wike is a 'foremost pillar' of the opposition party.
The PDP's national chairman said this when he led the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to the Rivers state governor at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, December 13.
According to him, Wike has over the years provided a platform for the party to survive and his support cuts across all the geo-political zones of the country.
"With profound humility and recognition for all your works and support that you have given the party, and being the foremost pillar of our party, on their behalf, we present this token as a symbol of love .

"Because God is with you, you have nothing to fear. We want to affirm that of a truth, God is with you. God has chosen you as a leader and by the Special Grace of God, you will continue to lead," Secondus said praying for more wisdom for the governor.
"You have helped Nigerians, not only Rivers people. You are reaching out to the north and the south. You are planting and our prayer is that one day, you will reap the good fruits.
"We will continue to back all our Governors. We are proud of them," he added.
The national chairman noted that governors on the platform of the party have done better than those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"If scorecards are presented between PDP and APC governors, you will see the difference. The PDP governors are the ones sustaining the country. If not, by now the country would have gone down," Secondus added.
On his part, the governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, confirmed Secondus' position.
"I thank the PDP for declaring that Wike is a pillar of the party. I want to confirm that he is truly a pillar of the party," Okowa said while calling the governor a committed party man who works to expand the influence of the political organisation.

He called Wike a man of many parts who is not understood by some people.
"There are so many things he does for the party and he does not want people to know. But we know he is a pillar," Okowa said.
Legit.ng earlier reported a brewing crisis between Wike and his Bayelsa state counterpart, Seriake Dickson, over an alleged plan by the latter to take over some oil resources reportedly belonging to Rivers state.
The Nation reports that Wike on Thursday, December 12, accused Dickson of plotting to hijack some oil wells belonging to River state.
