Kogi: Top party chieftain dumps PDP ahead of senatorial rerun

- Hon. Karimi Sunday Steve, a former PDP lawmaker, has dumped the party

- Steve withdrew his membership from the PDP but has not indicated the next party he will be joining.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member has lost another key member, Hon. Karimi Sunday Steve, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Yagba federal constituency.

According to The Nation, Steve withdrew his membership from the PDP but has not indicated the next party he will be joining.

Legit.ng gathers that the former lawmaker who is a former PDP deputy chairman in the state said his resignation from the party is with immediate effect.

He had earlier defected from the PDP to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) but later returned to the PDP.

His plan to contest the 2019 senatorial election failed as he was disqualified alongside others from contesting the primary by the PDP.

Steve said he will announce his next political move after handing over his membership card to his Ward executives.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, November 30, as the date for the conduct of the supplementary election in the Kogi West senatorial district.

The electoral commission in a statement on Twitter said it arrived at the decision after a meeting held on Thursday, 21 November.

“INEC met today 21st November 2019 and fixed 30th Nov 2019 for the conduct of Supplementary and re-run elections for Kogi West Senatorial District and Ajaokuta Federal Constituency respectively,” the statement from the commission read.
