Nipsey Hussle shooting: Emotional tributes pour in following Grammy-nominated rapper's death

In what could be described as a sad moment in the world of American music, international superstars have taken to their respective social media handles to mourn the untimely death of one of their own.

Social media went on frenzy after news broke on Sunday, March 31, that American rapper Ermias Davidson popularly known as Nipsey Hussle had been killed in a shooting that occurred outside his clothing store in Los Angeles.

According to reports by NBC News, the Grammy-nominated rapper was shot several times in the parking lot at Marathon Clothing in South Los Angeles at about 3:25pm and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Since the news of his death broke, thousands have taken to social media to mourn the death of the celebrated rapper. International music acts like Rihanna, Drake, John Legend and Wizkhalifa are some of those that have lamented his death online.

Sharing a post on popular micro blogging platform, Twitter, John Legend said : "RIP Nipsey. I just spent Thursday with him filming a video for a beautiful new song we created with Khaled. We filmed in Inglewood, close to where he grew up. He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community. Utterly stunned that he's gone so soon."
