Polls: APC supporters allegedly stone PDP guber candidate in Kano

- The Kano PDP governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf, and the APC state chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, both voted in the same polling unit on Saturday, March 9, 2019

There was drama on Saturday, March 9 as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, Abba Yusuf, and the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Abbas, both cast their votes at the same polling unit.

Yusuf and Abbas both voted at Unit 001, Chiranci Ward, Gwale area council, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that trouble started when Yusuf’s supporters began cheering as he arrived to cast his vote. The development subsequently allegedly led to the candidate being stoned by APC supporters.

Yusuf cast his vote barely 20 minutes after Abbas had cast his own at the polling unit.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that nine states, including Kano, were identified by analysts at the Centre of Democracy and Development (CDD)’s Election Analysis Centre (EAC) as key battleground states where the race for the position of the governor would be fierce.

Among the 29 states holding gubernatorial and state Houses of Assembly elections, analysts at the EAC pinpointed the nine states, after hours of intense deliberations.
