Fire Guts Emir Of Illorin's Palace

A section of the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has been gutted by fire.

The fire incident, which was said to have occurred at about 10.00 pm Tuesday night affected the main reception (Fadaa) of the emir’s palace.

The incident, PMNews gathered, in which valuable items worth millions of Naira were destroyed, was reportedly caused by electrical fault. The state government has sympathised with the monarch over the incident.

Speaking after inspection of the scene of the incident, the leader of government delegation, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, said government was deeply touched by the incident, praying God to forestall any future recurrence.

Gold, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Issa Bawa, Special Advisers to the Governor on Emergency and Relief Services as well as Security, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi and Alhaji Yinka Aluko respectively, assured the Emir of government's assistance.

Earlier, the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, had thanked God that no life was lost as a result of the incident and also thanked the state government for its concern.
