Defections: Tambuwal has become an object of pity - Wamakko

- Senator Aliyu Wamakko has once again chided Governor Aminu Tambuwal, over his defection from the APC to the PDP

- Wamakko described the governor as an object of pity; and said that it is pitiable for Tambuwal to have made such a decision

- According to Wamakko, if anyone has issues with the party, defecting is not the ideal thing to do

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been described as ‘an object of pity’ by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (APC- Sokoto North), due to the former’s decision to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wamakko, who is also the immediate past governor of Sokoto, made his comment on Thursday, August 2, during a BBC Hausa interview session.

Legit.ng gathers that the senator stated that contrary to reports that he would also defect alongside Tambuwal who is his perceived godson, he is firmly in the APC. He further reiterated that Sokoto is an APC state and is solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “Politics is always full of surprises; but it is pitiable for a young man like him (Tambuwal) to be making such decision in life.

“It has been long that people of Sokoto stopped running politics because particular persons are in it. And as a result of that, if someone quits and says he is leaving Buhari, that will be surprising and unfortunate.”

Wamakko continued: “If I have any issues regarding repairs of APC, leaving the party is not the ideal thing; and that won’t show that one knows what he is doing.

“Issues should be ironed out, truth be identified and be worked with. The people I am representing in Sokoto are in support of Buhari, and their loyalty to APC is intact. And as result of that, I won’t disappoint my people.”
