Osereimhen Osunbor withdraws from APC national chairmanship race

- Osereimhen Osunbor has withdrawn from the APC national chairmanship race

- He has also endorsed Adams Oshiomhole for the position

- According to him, his withdrawal was a way to show support and respect for President Buhari

A chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Edo state, Oserimhen Osunbor, has withdrawn from the race, and endorsed his opponent, Adams Oshiomhole, for the chairmanship.

Osunbor said he decided to withdraw in order to show his support for President Muhammadu Buhari who has declared his support for Oshiomhole.

His withdrawal came after Ibrahim Emokpaire, an American based member of the party, withdrew from the race, Premium Times reports.

Osunbor said he withdrew to “avoid unduly prolonging the voting exercise during the national convention,In the interest of a rancour-free national convention and to ease the work of the National Convention Committee and in the overall interest of our party the All Progressives Congress."

He added that: “I have decided to withdraw from the race and also endorse Adams Oshiomhole."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the National Integration Coalition (NIC) and the south south youths of the All progressives Congress has alleged a campaign against the former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The NIC over the weekend said the opposition party is jittery of the possible emergence of Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the APC at the convention.
