2019: Nigerian senator takes to the street to share N500 notes as 'dividends of democracy' (photos)

As the 2019 general elections approach, politicians have started coming with different political gimmicks and strategies to win the hearts of the people.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and senator representing Ogun East, Kashamu Buruji reportedly visited his constituents to share some 'relief materials' to mark the end of the Ramadan fast.

Senator Kashamu who is allegedly interested in the Ogun state’s governorship seat in 2019 is seen in the pictures below sharing N500 notes and other ‘dividends of democracy’ in a bid to win the heart of his constituents.

Recall that the embattled senator is reportedly wanted for drug trafficking in the US.

In an earlier report by Legit.ng, The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, June 5, ordered the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) not to take any further steps in their alleged bid to have Senator Kashamu extradited to the United States.

Justice Babatunde Quadri, ruling on an ex-parte application filed and argued by Kashamu’s lawyer, J. O. Odubela (SAN), on Tuesday, June 5, ordered parties to the suit, including the AGF and NDLEA, as respondents, to maintain status quo.

The judge also granted leave to the applicant to serve processes in relation to the suit, including the originating summons on NDLEA outside the jurisdiction of the court at 4 Shaw Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
