Brazil legend Ronaldo reveals the difference between Ronaldo and Messi

- Former Real Madrid star Ronaldo De Lima has highlighted the strong points of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

- The Brazil legend won the FIFA World Cup twice - in 1994 and 2002

- He feels the Argentine star brings magic to the pitch while Ronaldo's winning mentality drives his team forward

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his Barcelona arch rival Lionel Messi have probably the last chance to make their mark in the FIFA World Cup at Russia 2018.

Both players are in their 30s and the entire globe will be watching both of them to do exploits for their respective countries at this year’s edition of the FIFA championship.

Though, the Portugal international helped his national team clinch the 2016 UEFA European championship, yet, many believe without the World Cup, both Messi and Ronaldo cannot be regarded as all-time best.

The two players have shared 10 ballon d’Or awards between them since Ronaldo first won it while at Manchester United.

Messi on his part was at the final of the World Cup in 2014 but failed to lift the title after Mario Gotze’s goal propelled Germany to victory in Brazil four years back.

He also got to back to back Copa America finals, losing both games to Chile – leaving him with no senior accolade with Argentina.

Messi will be 35 by the time the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar get underway; Ronaldo will be almost 38.

One legendary player who did manage to win the World Cup during his career is the Brazilian icon Ronaldo, the second-highest goalscorer in World Cup history behind Miroslav Klose.

Meanwhile, Da Lima says: "With his incredible attitude, with his incredible winning mentality, Cristiano Ronaldo is a unique player,” Ronaldo is quoted as telling Bild by Spanish newspaper Marca.

"With his dribbling, his complete form of playing football and his ability to generate surprising situations in the attacks."

"But I admit that Lionel Messi brings even more magic to football.

Many people will agree with Ronaldo that Messi brings even more magic to football than Cristiano, although it’s safe to assume a lot of others will firmly disagree.

However, Ronaldo is a huge fan of his namesake and believes he’s improved immeasurably as a player since leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid nine years ago.

"He is technically very well versed," the Brazilian continued. "Time will tell what position history has reserved for him.

"The best thing that could've happened was to move to Real Madrid, but at Manchester United it was incredible the number of goals he scored.

"At Real he's become even more complete, but the truth is that winning a World Cup always helps when it comes to entering history as the greatest."

Legit.ng previously reported Germany international Mesut Ozil has said Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi but his reason for saying so is rather absurd.

The Arsenal star was joined by fellow Gunner Shkodran Mustafi during a mock press conference set up by Sky Sports and he was asked to choose between the two players.

Ever since the pair established themselves as the two best players in the world the debate over Ronaldo and Messi has raged.
