- There is a bit of disagreement between political gladiators in the state's ruling party - the PDP

- One of the governorship aspirants who stepped down is asking for automatic ticket for a second term in the Senate before she will support the party's candidate

Defeated Ekiti state governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Biodun Olujimi, has asked the national leadership of the party to give her an automatic ticket for a second term in the Senate as condition to work for Professor Kolapo Olusola, the party’s candidate in the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Olujimi, 60, who represents Ekiti South senatorial district, also requested the party to convene a reconciliatory meeting between her group and the PDP candidate who is also the deputy governor of the state, Daily Trust reports.

Olujimi had stepped down for a former minister of works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, but Olusola defeated Adeyeye at the primary, prompting the latter to dump the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker, in a letter dated May 30, 2018, and addressed to the PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, also wants the party to allocate certain percentage of elective and appointive positions at the federal, state and local government levels to her as a condition for supporting Olusola.

Olujimi who is currently the deputy minority whip in the 8th Senate, the only female Principal Officer in the 8th National Assembly and a former deputy governor of Ekiti state, had on Friday, April 13, formally announced her intention to seek the nomination of the PDP for the governorship election in Ekiti state.

She earlier faulted the selection of Kolapo Olusola as the Ekiti governorship candidate of the PDP by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose. She said Fayose’s decision has prompted members of the PDP to start decamping to opposition parties in Ekiti state ahead of the July 14 governorship poll.
