Meanwhile, the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit #PCRRU of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) reacted via its Twitter handle, @PoliceNG_PCRRU, that an investigation concerning the shooting has been initiated.

The PCRRU claimed that “the man had an asthma attack during contact with police patrol team from Area.”

Afterward, in a follow-up tweet, the PCRRU, quoting ACP @YomiShogunle said that it was the policemen from Ogudu Command that were involved in the incident, not SARS officers.

The police also claimed that the young man was not shot at.

The PCRRU, however, urged anyone that witnessed the incident to contact DPO Ogudu Lagos, adding that the Lagos state commissioner of police would like to know if any form of excessive force was used.

The officers involved have reportedly been taken off front-line duties.
