Falz defends young girls dancing while covered in hijab in his latest music video

Shortly after given seven-day ultimatum by Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) group to withdraw some scenes in This Is Nigeria video, Rapper, Falz, holds interview to defend issues portrayed in the controversial video.

Earlier Legit.ng shared details of a Muslim rights group's reaction to Falz’s latest music video, This Is Nigeria. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) group demanded the video which they believe is 'an assault on the self-dignity of every Muslim ' be withdrawn by the artiste or threatened to make him face legal action.

In what appears to be a response to impending threat, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz defended the girls wearing hijab dancing Shaku Shaku scene which has been pointed out as an instigation of 'Muslims to religious violence.'

In a recent interview, the 27-year-old rapper stated his inspiration for the apparently controversial music video, where he pointed out some issues currently affecting the country.

Speaking to Tope Olowoniyan on Verified, he said: ”It was very intentional. We continue to forget or neglect the innocence of the girl child and because of all the issues that we're having, the kidnappings and the killings especially in the Northern part of the country, the Chibok girls and very more recently the Dapchi girls, It is very disturbing and we don’t often talk about them and I was a bit surprised to hear people say why would you put girls in Hijab to dance Shaku Shaku…common, is there anything wrong with people dancing because they are wearing Hijabs? Is there any law against that?"

The rapper is yet to withdraw the video as per the demands of the MURIC group who have given him a seven-day ultimatum, where he fails, to face the tsunami legal action.

Falz is the son of SAN Femi Falana and Funmi Falana who both have successfully worked as a human and women's rights activist for years.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian lady named Lawal Simbiat also expressed disappointment regarding the video, saying the actions of Falz directly degrade the culture of the hijab.
